Simple entertainer that delivers plenty of laughs… Loosens grip intermittently, but the feeling of having watched a feel-good film is what you carry home… AjayDevgn wonderful, SidharthMalhotra striking.

Thank God may be no PK, OMG or Taqdeerwala among the pantheon of religious comedies, but does enough to sparkle this Diwali, especially with the second half packing a real emotional punch balanced with subtle humour. Ajay Devgn shines like only he can while both Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh are adequately sufficient. All in all, a good watch with your family this festival weekend.

This was meant to be a cautionary tale, laced with lessons and laughter. Where’s the fun? Even the Almighty can’t do a thing about it.

The story is stuck in the 90s and oversimplified but the movie makes for an easy watch. It might find favour with audiences who want a clean entertainer, as the film has a message or two about moving on about tribulations, being humane and the importance of one’s family.

Such films usually rely on strong comedy and Thank God somewhere makes the audience laugh. What works in the favour of the film that it isn’t vulgar, it isn’t full of sexist jokes, and you don’t feel like the gags are being stretched out endlessly. On the whole, Thank God is an entertainer with its share of funny moments. If you are not looking for wisdom and rationale in a light-hearted entertainer, then this movie is definitely for you.

Thank God is a Diwali release aimed at pleasing family crowds. Despite Ajay’s star power and Siddharth’s charm, the film fails to hold the viewers’ interest. Thank God will need more than divine intervention to redeem itself at the box office.

If asked to do Thank God review in one word then I would say it is a fun and decent movie that might make you think differently about certain scenarios and situations. Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra’s banter is quite entertaining. Though certain scenes will make you feel bored and you will zone out, they are evitable. I’m going to 3 stars as I liked the modern take of Yamdut and Chitragupt’s story and the banter between Ajay and Sidharth.
