Best Places to Collect Runes in Elden Ring

Runes are used as currency in Elder Ring to level up attributes and purchase goods from Merchants as well as upgrade equipment.

Golden Runes can be earned by defeating Shardbearer bosses and breaking open glowing skulls dotted throughout the Lands Between. Additionally, these elden ring runes can be used to power up Great Runes that can be activated at any Site of Grace.

Caelid

Because of this, some players have taken advantage of an exploit that allows them to gain an enormous number of elden ring runes without fighting Caelid's white dragon, Rennala. Stormveil Castle

Liurnia of the Lakes

Liurnia of the Lakes lies to the northwest of Limgrave and features numerous dungeons, enemies, and loot. This area provides an ideal place for leveling up a warrior with challenging dungeons such as Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel and Kingsrealm Ruins; you may also meet Edgar the Revenger as your area boss who drops Banished Knight Halberd +8, five Raw Meat Dumplings and Diallos Side Quest rewards -- Companion Jar Talisman and Hoslow's Petal Whip!

One of the primary goals in Liurnia is collecting and upgrading Great Runes, powerful items that increase your Tarnished level significantly. You'll find them both in dungeons and Sites of Grace; though story bosses like Godrick or Margit often drop these great runes that cannot always be powered up properly. Altus

Altus is one of the best places in Elder Ring to collect runes. To reach it, either via Grand Lift of Dectus or climbing Ruin-Strewn Precipice is best. Here you will encounter many enemies such as Slugs and Wormfaces; plus many Scarabs to hunt!

Explore ruins to uncover treasure. These include Minor Erdtree-Grazing Hill and Woodfolk Ruins; however, be wary as both sites contain demi-Humans who could cause serious injury. In the north central portion of this area is a ruined bridge leading to Shaded Castle which serves as an excellent location to farm elden ring runes but be wary as nearby waters may contain Giant Crabs!

Another way to reach the area is by fulfilling Rya's request in Liurnia of the Lakes; she will teleport players directly to Volcano Manor on Mount Gelmir, saving time and danger along the journey.
